Debussy - Clair de Lune

I didn't mention this a few weeks ago, but Rousseau is now over 2 years old!! It's amazing to think how far we've come as a community in that time. I still remember those few weeks before uploading the first video that were filled with a ton of recording. I have not mentioned this before, but the original Clair de lune recording was actually the first video I created, essentially a sight-read test to experiment with video effects. I'll be honest, I was not expecting more than a few thousand views, and as of right now it has now been viewed over 19 million times. That is truly hard to comprehend. Now during lock down, reminiscing on those days, I decided it would be nice to spend a bit more time working on the piece, and remake the video in the 2020 style! I'm sure you'll agree, many things have been refined over those two years - one of the biggest things that stuck out to me was the velocity curves of the piano library being set too strong on the first video, making the recording sound like it's being played at f throughout, along with the color which quite a few people mentioned. I hope this one can be a fresh new take on the piece in this visualization style, that can please both the ears and the eyes 🙂 Wishing you all a happy and healthy Monday, and two weeks ahead ♥

Claude debussy began composing this piece around 1890 as the third movement to his suite, suite bergamasque. He accordingly disliked this viewing it as a inferior manuscript.

He was inspired by Paul verlaine's poem written in 1869 titled clair de lune. He completed it in 1905.once he published it, the public was crazy and ignored his late masterpieces. His publisher pressured him for money and he finally published it in 1905.

I'm a fan of "Clair de Lune" but everyone keeps warning me not to put Debussy on a pedestal.

I played this piece once in a practice room at school. One of my friends called it "brainrot" because of "Grow a Garden", and to be honest, I was disappointed that they had considered it "brainrot" because of a game. I've listened to this piece wayyyy before that game came out. To this day, it's still my favorite piano piece to play and listen to
